How to get to Bamberg and the Conference Venue

Arrival by plane/train

Going via Frankfurt (watch out: FRA, not HHN) is the major airport connect to Bamberg most conveniently, but Munich (MUC) is almost equally viable and Berlin (BER) is another possible option. Also check connections directly to Nuremberg (NUE) but this will likely mean a layover unless you opt for a low cost carrier.

You can book the train ride from the airport to Bamberg here: https://www.bahn.com/en.The station is called Bamberg. If you book a saver’s rate, you are tied to the specific trains - so, accommodate for plane delays in your train booking or opt for the flexible rate.

In Bamberg

In Bamberg, the hotel Ibis Styles is located in Lange Str. 29, 96047 Bamberg. This is a 1.5 km (0.9 miles) walk from the Station. You can also take bus 901, 902, 907, 911 or 931 to Bamberg ZOB and either walk from there (about 200 m/650 ft). Cabs are available in front of the station and will cost about €10.

Breakfast is included with your room. There is a supermarket (REWE) next door and multiple bakeries, cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

From the hotel to our workshop venue in building KR12 (Am Kranen 12, 96047 Bamberg), it is just a short 300m (1000 ft) walk.

Organizers

The conference is organized as a cooperation between Simon Scheller (principal investigator of the project Political Epistemology, funded by the German Research Foundation) and Michael Hannon (founder of the Political Epistemology Network).
